Can you imagine the # of people that would have no idea where they were sitting when getting on the plane without a paper boarding pass receipt? Or the double-booked seat situation? The last minute seat changes/upgrades, etc? I think the paper makes for a much easier situation. Also, the computer system has a fart during boarding? The paper can be manually-taken and you can get on board.
