I've flown with one and then two children from infant through current toddler age on paid first tickets on EWR-FLL numerous times without a second thought. Flying in first makes life so much less stressful with the kids, especially early on. You might get a glance or two from passengers, but, especially on a leisure route like this where you have a lot of upgrades, I could care less. On longer flights you might get more looks or mumbled comments, but again, the tradeoff in comfort and convenience is worth it to me.
