flatlander, I have a trakdot, which worked well on the only trip I've used it, TXL-MUC-MAD-MIA-DFW. Lots of reviews on Flyertalk. Apparently the early versions had problems. I bought mine locally the day before our trip last month. I'll use it next month on AA's DFW-PEK. Curious to see if it works in China.
I have a trakdot which I bought soon after they were released, but I gave up on it after the battery life turned out to be about 24 hours - absolutely no use for working out where your luggage is when it's AWOL.

Perhaps the new ones are good, but I can't recommend them based on my experience, and on the (lack of) help from the company. It did not do what it claimed on the box.
