British Airways told us it was fine also. But Cathay says:

We recommend that the name(s) on the ticket is an exact match to the passport.

If this is not the case you may have problems at the airport.

I guess or hope that's just for them to clear themselves of any wrong doings.

Edit: Called into the company I ordered the package through, they also said it doesn't matter but said they added it in a note to the tickets.
