I'm already well clear of renewal for Gold, so this won't affect me. This is completely unfair. You should be able to keep a selected seat for one return flight after the changeover. I understand multiples of flights, and there has to be a cut off somewhere. But one flight shortly after changeover I think is a bit petty to just kick people out.
Can't say I agree. All the time people are moving up and down. As
orbitmic highlights those who have increased status will expect to enjoy the benefits of this which they can't do if preferred seats are occupied by people who no longer have appropriate status.
Exactly the same as your lounge entitlement changes with status, if you are silver you no longer qualify for FLounge access, there is no 'grandfathering' of benefits.
At least this way everyone knows where they stand, to qualify for the benefits you need to have the status at the time you travel. If you lose status you also lose benefits.
