Hello All:

So my wife and I are looking to book saver award economy tickets next summer to LHR from SFO on UAL.

I'm getting 30K points plus tax for non-stop on the outbound on UAL. The same for a return, but with one stop via a combo of AC/UAL (non-stops on UAL are available but for 65K points only).

My question is, if after booking, I come across a saver award non-stop for the return for 30K points plus tax, can I call UAL and ask them to make the switch from the one-stop to the non-stop? If so, would there be a charge to do so? Along the same lines, is there a way for me to be wait-listed for the non-stop at the time of initial award booking in case a seat opens up or do I have to keep checking back?
