Interesting point, my gut feeling is to check in via the lounge.....I always do this where possible and I've had some great upgrades this way.....I feel my track record as a diamond is good for upgrades with this strategy , however that said, I've just returned from the Waldorf Hilton London and this didn't work there......guess we cant win them all.
