Since this has been posted as a general info desk question, I'm going to point out that this is not always the case.
On many flights, typically regional aircraft, one snack basket is stocked, wrapped in plastic wrap, for the flight and cannot be refilled mid flight.

That being said, taking 2 is fine. Taking 6 to have snacks for your destination is not.
