We have different values.

I think when I have something that's not rightfully mine I should use reasonable endeavours to return it What is reasonable is defined by the circumstances (and the value) of the item that I have incorrectly received.

I don't think that you being returned to your correct position is a punishment.

I further struggle with the concept that organisation A has wronged me organisation B will 'suffer' if they make a mistake.

Each to their own I suppose.
