Does that really matter to me in the slightest?
I want the best product for my purpose - not the cheapest product or a product from the largest supplier for the sake of a large supplier.
If people are prepared to buy inedible fruit solely because it is cheap, the phrase "knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing" springs to mind.
The rise of Lidl and Aldi does say a lot about the UK consumer.
If you are going to throw away 25%-50% of everything that you buy, then I suppose you want to do so as cheaply as possible. Ironically, for many such people, if they eliminated the food that they will just throw away, they could shop more cheaply at Fortnum and Masons!
In this context, why would anyone ever fly BA and why would anyone ever fly in anything other than Y? Fitness for purpose and value over mere price, perhaps?
