I for one have always ordered HNML for over 20 years in all airlines I traveled and have tried AVML few times. I prefer HNML as it always seems better that AVML.My family is all vegetarian and they complain that their food sucks while I am enjoying my HNML

Let's be honest this is BA so you have to suspect that the AVML is going to be cheaper than the HNML and thus BA is incentivised to combine them to save money.
I am sure there is a genuine confusion issue as the respected staff contributors here report but I am also pretty certain that could be resolved in other ways if there was a will to do so. Personally the HNML was a valid option for me when faced with bland menus (like that on my upcoming F trip to YVR) and it is a shame I will no longer have an option I have sometimes enjoyed. I think this is probably close to the heart of this change too.
