As it is same day departure, your luggage should get checked through unless you specifically request to collect at SIN.
In any event, unless you need a visa, immigration should be fairly quick and painless anyway, most likely 5-10 mins into Singapore and 5-10 mins leaving Singapore (unless very unlucky). Security check is at gate just before you board the plane, so no long delays entering the airport due to security line up.
