My favorite place for plane watching at LAX is the outside seating area at the In-n-Out Burger just off the North runway. It really is a fantastic spot, as the planes are very low and on final approach just yards away. There's the added bonus of behing able to have a Double-Double while you watch the planes land. You can't really see takeoffs though.
