Just emailed Icelandair and got a very quick reply from them; they said it is unlikely the bags would be tagged for transfer to the BA flight, but said the passengers could ask for this to be done at Icelandair check in.

One question about the Common Travel Area that you mentioned: It sounds like after clearing UK immigration and customs at LHR, the passengers upon arrival in Dublin (from LHR) would not need to go through Irish immigration and customs; is this correct?
