Hi all, looking for some collective wisdom for a booking for a 5-night stay here in April.
I'm looking at 2 booking options:
FHR POV Room Rate
Cost (CAD): $2260 to $2710 paid at check out
The FHR rate for this room is $2710, but if I can persuade the property to take the gift card as payment, the effective rate would be $2260.
Pros over Gold:
- Either $355 or $805 cheaper
- $100 spa certificate
- Paid at check out
Fairmont Gold OV Room Fairmont Moments Rate
Cost (CAD): $3065 prepaid
Pros over FHR:
- Gold lounge (hors d'oeuvres, non-alcoholic drinks, snacks, etc)
- Gold concierge - More intimate service(?)
- 6th floor
- Fairmont Moments Room Upgrade(?)
Assuming that I get the FHR POV Rate upgraded to an OV room, those seem to be the only differences in the two types of bookings (the FHR breakfast benefit vs the Gold lounge breakfast is probably a wash). I generally make bookings in Fairmont Gold and find that there tends to be more intimate service on the Gold floors on the properties I've been to. According to my general experience, I would gladly pay $450 more for the duration of the stay for the Gold floor. $900 extra (and prepaid!) might be too steep, though.
So I guess I have few questions:
- Has anyone had experience paying for an FHR booking at this property with a gift card?
- How does the Gold floor service compare with the rest of the property? Sounds like the service at the property in general is already pretty good.
- How much is the bottled water at the property? If it's something like $10 a bottle and we're going to drink 30 bottles between the two of us throughout the stay, I would definitely go for Gold.
- Is there even a possibility of a room upgrade for the Fairmont Moments offer considering it's the Fairmont Gold OV Room?
- Anything else I'm missing?
