After having read a couple of threads in the last few weeks, I started digging into my memory what the service on different routes/airlines was. I never experienced any kind of lazyness or rudeness or ignorance on (e.g.) Lufthansa. But the last few flights I took with Emirates (almost exclusively), I did get my glass of water about 30 minutes after I kindly asked for, saw neighbour pax waiting for the stewardess until forever, etc. There are also periods of flight when there's no crew visible at all! But I never paid too much attention to this. I only wanted to survive my flight.
Talking to few (nice ;-) ) stewardess, many (if not all) of them tell you they're with EK for 6, 8 months. Basically, newbies. But that must not be excuse for being ignorant to pax requests. They should be even more attentive, get more experience. But if the goal was living in Dubai and showing-off ("Hey, I'm working for Emirates"), that is just a pity for customers and even more for Emirates on long term.
I don't want to generalize but such cases I find more common with EK than LH, for example. And yes, this is Y class. I believe J and F crew are required more experience, more training and years with EK.
You must be luckier then me when traveling with LH

The Y service I've encountered on LH were pretty much the same as most other airlines (hits and misses).
