I don't think anyone has a problem with a status match, the problem is giving it away for free. I had co worker Marriott Golds get comped to Hyatt Diamond. None of them plan on using Hyatt unless the trade show host hotel is a Hyatt. The other ones plan on using the suite upgrades on the few stays that they must stay at a Hyatt.

Again, giving it away for nothing, is just diminishing the Hyatt Diamond status.
