I have tried to find out but can't find the details. I would be a bit upset to learn that BA had sacked one of it's pilots injured while doing his work. But I have no information on this so it's just speculation.
Perhaps the extent of his injury, precludes him from carrying on as a pilot and both parties have agreed that an independent body should determine an appropriate level of severance / compensation.
