I can almost guarantee you won't get any further with Customer Service. If you really want to take it further I suggest you follow the process detailed under item 27 here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...61-2004-a.html

However if fog did delay flights that day which caused a knock on effect leading to your flight being delayed, I don't think you stand much chance regardless of what the captain 'promised' you. The captain may not have the complete information as to why BA changed aircraft allocations.
