Assuming the wedding hasn't been a last minute thing and the flights were booked a little while ago I think disaster should be reserved for things that are less predictable and easily avoidable! Yes its annoying BA fee for J seat selection but its something you know at time of booking so if you want the seats together pay up or take your chances, disaster it is not!
