Sure, that sucks .... but not only Chinese. They may also need some kind of transit visa IIRC.
My point is that not everyone knows about the perils of transiting China.
I've done TWOV and stayed in Peking and Shanghai, and that was nice, but to have to enter the country to transit is another story.
