In general, my miles and my VIPOWs are for people who travel with me (although I'm open to exceptions on a case-by-case basis).

Just as I wouldn't ask other people for money to buy a plane ticket, I don't expect others to ask me for FF tickets.

As in your case- immediate family is excluded from the above.
