Had a wonderful traditional German meal at Paulaner on Im Tal (name of the street) which is in the pedestrian zone just east of the Marienplatz. I would check out the Hofbrauhaus for a beer and pretzel, but have dinner at Paulaner.

Definitely check out a biergarden (outside). I liked the Seahaus beirgarten in the Englisher Garten. This one is past the Chinese Tower biergarden but is a bit more picturesque.

I also liked a cafe on Theresestrasse (I think) called Cafe Puck. Its near the university.
