Why should airlines give you nothing if you cancel a res?
Curious why there is ZERO incentive for me to inform an airline that I plan to no-show on a reservation...
Hear me out:
Every once in a while I find myself unable to make use of a plane ticket I've booked and paid for. $200+ change fees are so onerous it's almost never worth it to try and switch to another date... so I just don't show up for the flight and that's the end of it.
But - wouldn't it be in the airline's best interest to KNOW that I'm not planning to show up? They could have much more accurate info and be able to sell another ticket, making good money. The problem now is that I have zero incentive to tell them. Even if they offered me $25 or something it would be worth a few minutes to log on and cancel.
Anyone got thoughts on this?
