No, it doesn't make sense, because then you would only exchange them if they announced an end date!

If they did decide to end it, you wouldn't get much notice. I guess if the euro ends then the exchange will also end, as Mark are basically old euros. And the end of the euro would be very sudden and unexpected, like the end of the unoffical peg of CHF to the euro.

I exchange DM to euros twice a year, and my only advice would be to go at 8am, otherwise you will end up waiting a while. There are still many people exchanging DM every day, though some of them could be exchanging euro coins - the Bundesbank does small amounts for free (unlimited amounts of DM can be exchanged, and yes, some people have brought hundreds of kg by car).
