I was pulled out of the First line at LAX by an AA Agent and processed through their Flagship Check-in. That does it for me
I don't regard it as a 'willy waving' exercise, but occasionally it seems to help.
BTW ... mine are attached with wire ties, but that doesn't stop the tags being crushed in the handling processes. That's why BAEC lets you order replacements at ba.com
