I hope that driver and photographer received hazard pay! Can you imagine if the brakes failed or pilot error prevented a safe landing? Also, I'm surprised the insurance companies would allow such foolishness. An advertisement isn't worth losing lives or airplanes. Years ago Delta used to use the actual aircraft to train their pilots instead of purchasing simulators. The results were not good. Many lives and airplanes were lost as a result. You'd think they would have learned their lesson by now. With the advances in CGI there is no need to actually fly the airplane. Not to mention using CGI would have to be cheaper than flying an empty aircraft around trying to get a shoot.
Foolishness? This was takeoff, not landing, and at the first sign of trouble I'm sure the camera car would immediately drive off the runway and out of the way. I doubt anything they did was in the least bit unsafe.
