Wow, I just posted this....thank you all for your input.

Letiole, I'm not a fan of Priceline because I don't like the idea of not knowing which particular property is available before I give them my credit card. But thanks for the idea. I know I'm probably missing great deals but Priceline is just not for me.

Catwood, that would be terrific. There is only one in Portland. It is off Exit #8 on Interstate 95/Maine Turnpike. Here is a link with the exact address, directions, and a map: http://www.motel6.com/reservations/m...p?MotelId=1273

Blair (whose email I greatly look forward to enjoying ), you picked up why Motel 6 is appealing to me; it's supposed to be right off the interstate. Part of me can't even fathom anything seedy in Maine (yes I'm very biased toward Maine), but I can't look at everything so blindly, can I? I know Motel 6 is not fancy; I just want a clean place to sleep, a clean bathroom, and a property which makes safety a priority. If your friend feels confident in them, that helps me feel reassured.

Birdstrike, just saw your post. Yup, you got the write link. It's the only Motel 6 in Portland, Maine. Thanks.
