Can anyone here enlighten me as to why I might not get full TPs for a F ticket if I upgrade the AA ticket at the airport?

The AA ticket was bought directly thru AA, so nothing going thru the BA system here except to register my BAEC# with them.

Unless a mistake is made AA airport upgrades do not earn additional TPs and avios. You will only be credited based upon the class you originally purchased. These upgrades do not earn additional points/miles with the AAdvantage program either.
