Denied adding authorized user?

Hi,

Recently I tried to add a relative as an authorized user on my Amex Platinum.

Called and was told they were denied, but would not tell me why.

Relative had a bankruptcy 6-ish years ago is all I can think of. But I thought this would not be a problem for AU? After all, *I* am the one on the hook for paying it. Was planning to set spend caps of course.

Any advice for getting them approved?
