I know a number of shiny card holders who have no interest in FT and I can tell you that to them the idea that you should not put a tag given to you by the airline onto your bag when you are travelling with that airline is frankly ridiculous.

Do I agree? Dunno . I think we all have views coloured by the way in which we have seen people who are displaying certain tags behave. It's been a fairly long time since I have been troubled by how people I don't know in an airport think of me but I can say that if you are putting your bronze/silver/gold/premier tags on your hand luggage then you are less likely to be turned away or questioned at business/first check-in or fast-track security or the priority boarding line. Then again I think some people actually enjoy the DYKWIA moment that comes out of the old 'this is F check in don't you know...' line!

On the other hand, there are some who really are in T5 so often as to be recognised by staff and who therefore really have no need for tags!
