A friend of mine needs to rent a car in Europe for travel to Scandinavia and Estonia. Since he is a businessman then he would prefer something decent like BMW/Audi/Mercedes.

Checks with rental companies have revealed some reluctance on their part to allow cars into Eastern Europe including Estonia. Our fellow FT'er Uli has done some serious checking in Germany to see if anyone will rent a car for this trip but sadly there have been only negative answers.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on this matter? Are there any car companies in Europe that will allow their cars for this trip?

FWIW, all major rental companies are present in Estonia but they usually have only 1 or 2 cars available per day and usually they can't tell you which ones will be available on any specific day. There is even a Mercedes rental place but it is usually booked out by upto 2 months.
