I live in a rural northern CA area and often drive elsewhere. Cell phones don't work reliably enough around here and in my travels. People around here don't like cell phone towers too much, so they resist their installation.
The idea of cell phones doesn't match the reality yet, not by far. I might switch, but so far, it's an unreliable, expensive toy, even for emergencies, which the industry touts. Wish Iridiium--or its idea--had caught on with more than the Pentagon.
