I just ditched my land line two weeks ago. I only kept it for as long as I did because my previous phone had terrible reception. I finally ditched Sprint PCS and their customer service from hell, got a new phone with a new plan from Verizon, with excellent reception, so I got rid of the land line. The only downside is that being put on hold for excessively long times (by airlines, banks, my stupid dentist's office, for instance) can really eat into minutes.
