This won't work for about 5 reasons. First and most important is that
the name change won't go through to Virgin (which is the entire problem), so Delta won't have a matching PNR number and they won't be able to reissue the ticket. If it was that easy, someone would have done it already.
Done it by calling Delta..including KLM reservations (but am not a minor)

One cannot change a minors account. When I created my two children's account, it had to be through Delta staff.
