Then I don't see how you were really ExPlat or equivalent. BA Silver is oneworld Sapphire. That's the equivalent of (ordinary) Platinum at AA. AA's Executive Platinum is oneworld Emerald, for which you have to be BA Gold, not just BA Silver.

This website lets you compare status levels between oneworld airlines (such as AA and BA):
Furthermore, BA Silver doesn't give you any AA status as such. They are separate airlines still, and were even more separate 5+ years ago. BA Silver only gives you oneworld status (Sapphire) which you can use on AA (but oneworld status does not duplicate all AA benefits, such as 500-mile upgrades on domestic AA flights, that the AA equivalent of BA Silver has).
