Because I earned ExPlat status through BA, being Silver.

Long ago, in a place far, far away, I used to fly ORD to LHR/NCL frequently, and thus had BA Silver for about five years.

It never was my goal to earn AA status back then. Given the paucity of elite upgrades these days, I'm not missing that much, especially because I value a non-stop flight far more than anything else.
Right now, flying out of MCI, WN is the best option for me. I've had A+ and CP for years, and that's a decent benefit.
Rarely does business take me someplace that requires looking at a legacy. Hence, having to fly AA to get to SAF last week.
