I did say I'd not been on the 787! However, On a 772, I can't say I rated the difference greatly between Y and W on an over night. Y on a daytime flight was definitely more bearable than W on a night flight at the end of my holiday! Hence I'd rather pay more (we were offered club for 400 a seat) on the way home for a night flight. That said, we didn't actually take it and despite the discomfort and lack of sleep, we came home £800 better off which did provide some compensation... I'd say I would only pay if I was by myself or the extra points made a difference or it was stupidly cheap... (Or using Avios if I had loads).
