I eventually decided to stay at the Grand Hyatt instead, forking out a bit of money for one Japanese breakfast at the Nadaman. There was cash and points available at the very last minute, and that seemed like a good deal for a Cat 3 hotel that wanted 28,000 yen. (Man, I haven't been in Japan for a year, but hotel prices have REALLY shot up!)
What a lovely property this is, with a special mention for the Club Olympus. This must be one of the very few Hyatt properties that has a squat rack; off the top of my head, the few hotels with such a good gym are the Westin Chosun, the Kerry in Beijing, and the Ascott Bangkok. I really appreciated the gym workout gear as well.
Breakfast at the Grand Club was typical continental fare, which wasn't much to write home about. Great coffee in the morning and everything was of very high quality. You tend to get quite spoilt when visiting Japan, given how amazing the food is in this country.
Rooms were well maintained, although I really cannot get used to the bowing every time I walk past the housekeeper!
