Given the correlation between SPG and MR status tiers, it may be easier and cheaper to get MRGold by flying more UA, and at least achieving PremierGold each year...if the program continues. Since MRGold is the equivalent of SPGPlat, UA elites get the better end of this deal. MR elites who are not already MR Golds or Plats, merely get PremierSilver status. It'll be a while before we know any details of the merged frequent stay program (say mid-2016), so this too will work itself out over the 8 to 12 months.
