NEXUS card iris scan question

I have a NEXUS card that was approved at a site that does not have an IRIS scan machine. The first time I will be travelling to Canada from the US via Air is to Vancouver Airport with my family (My Wife and 2 Children aged 9 and 6). I know that if I was travelling alone, I could just go to the NEXUS office at Vancouver Airport and get my initial iris scan and proceed through the kiosk after the scan.

However, since I will be travelling with my family that do not have NEXUS cards, and do not have the intention of getting them, how do I go about getting the initial iris scan done and then, which lanes do my family and I go through customs?
Can we separate? I go get my iris scan at the office, then go through then Nexus kiosk and meet them on the other side while they go through the "normal" lane?
Can they tag along through nexus and just go through a "normal" border screening there?
will I need to have them wait for me to get my Iris scanned, then we all go through the "normal" customs lanes?

I know when driving, even asking to bring a non-nexus cardholder through a nexus line, or separating into different lanes will get your privileges revoked. Is the same true at the airport? I just need to get my iris scanned and this is the best opportunity to do it.

Thanks!
