I do not take the OP's suggestion as serious, but a natural expression of frustion. Plat status plus Delta Amex Reserve isn't exactly a cheap way to go for what's become mediocre benefit.

OP might feel better either going "all-in" as Diamond + cheaper Delta Amex, or saying "screw it" and do the Kayak thing.
