As has been stated many many times on FT, MCT represents a carrier's willingness to assume the risk of rebooking in the case of a misconnect.
OP is on separate tickets, so he won't be a connecting passenger. If he no shows on his xYVR, that ticket will be cancelled and OP will need to buy a new ticket at walkup prices and will be able to use whatever value is retained under the fare rules of the original ticket (less any penalties). That could be anywhere from 0 to a little to a lot.
I typically allow triple the MCT for separate tickets because that accounts for most of the risks of delay.
