Car rental companies - AVIS in this particular case - do not allow Merc, BMW, etc when rented in Germany to be driven in Italy. We begin our trip in Munich, want to go to Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Italy and Austria.

Does anyone know what are the consequences for driving a rented in Germany Mercedes in Italy? Anyways AVIS can find out we did so?
