If you travel all economy all the time you'll be hard pressed to hit these PQD numbers without using the CC to waive the requirement.
My company requires low fares in coach. I will pass $15K in spend for Platinum level flying. 2nd year of doing this. Even if I take my one Business First paid ticket (bought up the return leg of SFO-PEK-SFO to a Z fare) out and put the amount of a coach ticket for that segment in it's place I will still exceed 1K spend requirement for Platinum level miles flown. I am usually on S, T, K, L, N fares with a few W, V and E fares. Even had a couple G fares. So it is not that hard to do. But maybe my case is because it is almost all short haul. I guess if you are doing mainly long haul or transcend on those same fares you would have many fewer segments and thus less spend. I am at 64.5 segments so far this year with 80K PQM and at $14K spend now with another 3 trips to fly (thus the $15K spend at end of year) but won't have the miles for 1K. Will be about 10k short.
