I think that movie was called "Silkwood". Different chemicals, although radioactive isotopes would probably keep ice from forming on the plane's fuselage if they were sprayed on it.

In previous decades, Dr Pepper contained small amounts of propylene glycol - it wouldn't freeze even if left outside in harsh winter weather. If it was ok to drink, being sprayed with it won't be a problem. Just don't bathe in it and don't drink large quantities of it.
I thought that was Mountain Dew?
