It also depends on whether you want to stop at one of the airport mall shops for a quick purchase.
Since 9/11, my personal strategy is to get through airport security as quickly as possible when I fly and to minimize time spent land side since terrorism specialists have pointed out that land side areas of airports can be vulnerable, including crowds and long lines for check in and security or passport control. Of course we're talking about minuscule probabilities, but if one can easily reduce potential risk, why not? It's the same principle as always bothering to lock one's home and car doors immediately.
In the MSP case, if the SkyPriority area isn't moved, it means going half the length of the airport from check in to security, crossing over all of the kettle big lines along the way. Then I envision a big messy maze of velvet ropes for a single monster sized TSA security checkpoint. It almost might be easier/faster/better (especially if departing from all but the D E F gates which aren't used very much by DL) to go to SkyPriority if needed for check in and bag drop, then exit the main terminal and walk through the parking ramp (or take the little train in the basement) to the skyway TSA security station if it's open.
