What would be the advantage to reclearing security in the connector vs the normal TBIT security area? Is it that you don't have to walk outside and then re-enter TBIT to access it?
Pre-check lane is something up to the airlines (American?) to pay for it. TSA can staff it if someone will pay for it.
You answered your own 2nd question... the TSA checkpoint at the connector will allow you back into the departure area once you exit customs so you don't need to go upstairs and walk all the way back to the main TBIT TSA checkpoint. The bus depot will be right there past TSA in the connector so it will make a much smoother transit experience.
