Reawakening an old topic, but i've just got back from Malta in CE, and so tried out two different G-GAT* aircraft this week. Can someone tell me why BA are using these planes on some very long Band 4 routes (Canaries/SSH/Morocco), whilst having wingletted A320 with proper buckheads and IFE on LHR-domestic routes?
I feel really sorry for the crew - they've basically got nowhere to hide during their breaks - they're on show the entire time, and on some of these sectors, that's a LONG day to be constantly "on". The poor person in 1A also doesn't have a very nice experience either. It looked very cramped sitting there with all the magazine racks right next to your head.
Why didn't BA put at least some of these new jets onto dedicated domestic routes, leaving "better" planes for longer flights? Not having the bulkhead or IFE is neither here nor there for a 1 hour hop up north, but makes quite a difference on a 4 hour flight south.
