I agree that as a customer I don't really care (in the short term) whether an airline is profitable or not. I was responding to Raffles's position.
To be fair to him, he writes about miles rather than finance, so the odd slip up in understandable (like an article last week which said Nectar made a loss, when if fact their profits fell (after booking a one-off item the previous year) but remained positive).
